About Geothermal Energy

What is geothermal? A system that uses the Earth’s temperature of 55 degrees to provide a highly efficient heating and cooling system all year long.

How does geothermal work? The system is made up of pipes that extend 500 feet below the ground. The continuous piping loops are filled with an antifreeze-like liquid that helps transfer the ground temperature to the geothermal heat pump.

Why a geothermal system? This renewable energy source significantly reduces operating costs, helps preserve the historic building’s interior, and lowers our carbon footprint.

How will it benefit Cheney Mansion? This system will provide a consistent year-round temperature inside the home to help preserve and protect the architectural features including the walls, woodwork, and historical elements.
