Homeschool Archery – 9/1/2026

Taught by one of our USA Archery-certified Instructors, this class is for beginner and seasoned archers alike. Besides learning how to shoot a bow and arrow, this is a great opportunity for children to improve their skills in hand-eye coordination, patience, concentration, and spatial awareness. This class takes place at the Indoor Archery Range at Fox Center.

 

Archery is for everyone! PDOP Archery instructors are trained in adaptive archery and the elements used to make this sport accessible to all. If you need accomodations made, please email Hannah Garcia at hannah.garcia@pdop.org before class begins.

Forest Bathing – 8/29/26

Forest Bathing (also known as Shinrin-Yoku) is not a hike, fitness walk, or naturalist-led program – instead, it is a unique opportunity to slow down, awaken your senses, and connect with the natural world in nourishing and meaningful ways. Through a series of gentle invitations by an ANFT Certified guide, you’ll have the chance to deepen your relationship with the land and its inhabitants, as well as share in that experience with others.

In addition to feeling more grounded, calm, and peaceful, when practiced regularly, Forest Bathing has been shown to support overall well-being, including reduced stress, lower blood pressure, improved sleep, enhanced creativity and focus, and even a decrease in anxiety and depression.  Many people also find that they begin to experience familiar parks and forests in new, surprising, and deeply personal ways.

Enjoy one of the greatest Jazz albums of all time performed live @ Cheney Mansion. Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue is the best- selling Jazz Album of all time and it is a true timeless classic.

This Thursday evening happy hour concert will take place in the beautifully landscaped yard and garden outside historic Cheney Mansion. Tickets include two drinks, hand-passed hors d'oeuvres, and of course live music! The event will move indoors if needed due to rain.  Ages 21+

Stop by Austin Gardens to take a look at our facility, meet our instructors, and get a feel for the kind of classes we’ll be running. The building will be set up with activities from Drop-In Nature Center Hours, and you’ll get a chance to meet our resident ball python, Ouroboros!
