Creative Cooking offers life skills and art work all wrapped into one awesome class! They are designed for students to explore their creativity in the kitchen! A different theme and recipe (or two!) will be introduced in each workshop. While the food cooks, bakes, or simmers, our little chefs with enjoy additional art and/or games during those times. Each child will go home with their recipes to share with the entire family.
Want to experiment with clay? Join us for an introduction, discovery, and exploration to wheel and hand-building techniques. No take-home projects in this class. As it is purely an exploration workshop.
Join us for an afternoon of party bridge. Bridge has been the favorite card game to many notable Oak Park residents including Elizabeth Cheney (of Cheney Mansion). Join your fellow Bridge enthusiasts for an afternoon of card etiquette and serious gameplay in a relaxing environment. No partner needed.
Join Chef Tara Humphrey of the Global Peel as she explores culture through cooking. Your child will experience a hands-on cooking class with recipes and techniques from around the world. Your camper will investigate new regions each day and discover a broad range of flavors from several countries. Highlights each week will be cheese making, dumplings, sous vide, pasta and more. Learn history, eat lunch and share our common story with your fellow students in the Cheney kitchen and dining room. Great food and life skills to carry forward. We are all family around food. NEW this year, we have added a 4 day afternoon session each week!
Cool off with a great evening program of cool west jazz performed by our own Garfield Park Jazz Collective. Originating on the West Coast in the 1950’s, they will be performing, “Cool Jazz” arrangements made famous by artists such as Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan. Songs include, “Funk in a Deep Freeze, Lets Cool One, But Not for Me”, as well as a variety of jazz songs that are sure to please everyone. Two drink tickets are included in your registration. Ages 21+
