This program shows how easy it is to incorporate a flavor explosion into your cooking with basic ingredients and very little special equipment.
Flavor bombs can be pastes or butters that are made when herbs are fresh to be used and preserved for later. A great way to use garden surplus and preserve garden produce. Sampling is included. Snacks and 2 drink tickets are included in your registration. Ages 21+
Join the team from Carnivore Oak Park on the Cheney Mansion patio for the basics on cleaning and filleting a fish. Also watch sample demos on preparing fish properly for the grill. All products are from Carnivore’s fantastic inventory of products. Carnivore will provide sample tastings so bring along your favorite beverage to sip. Ages 21+
Step on down for the Blind Tasting Game! Come test your senses as we discover how to "taste" wine using only our senses. From the sound of the cork's pop to the bouquet on the nose, to the textures on the palate. Enjoying wine is a full-body experience. After we cover the tasting basics each table will work together to match each wine with the correct set of descriptors. Join us for a fun evening getting our senses – and wine – flowing. Light appetizers will also be served and weather permitting we will be outside on patio at Cheney! Ages 21+
Join Chef Tara Humphrey of the Global Peel as she explores culture through cooking. Let’s make meringue, tea sandwiches, and French pastry. Fresh scones and clotted cream will abound. Understand the science of tea while creating our own flavors. Learn history, enjoy the fruits of your labor, and share our common story with your fellow students in the Cheney kitchen and dining room. Great food and life skills to carry forward. We are all family around food. Ages 12-16
