November 7: Design personalized ornaments using miniature gourds, paints, dyes, and a variety of decorative materials. Demonstrations on how to add decoupage techniques and ink dyes will be given.
November 14: Learn to use engraving tools to add texture and dimension to your ornaments. Participants will be shown how to add highlights by using gold leaf and glitter. Participants will also explore finishing techniques, including sealing their work for long-lasting display.
Class Description: Celebrate the season by creating one-of-a-kind gourd ornaments. Participants will learn about the history, cultivation, and many uses of gourds before decorating miniature gourds using a variety of techniques, including painting, dyeing, decoupage, gold leaf, and engraving. You'll leave with several handcrafted ornaments ready to display or give as gifts. No experience is required, and all gourds have been grown by the instructor.
Forest Bathing (also known as Shinrin-Yoku) is not a hike, fitness walk, or naturalist-led program – instead, it is a unique opportunity to slow down, awaken your senses, and connect with the natural world in nourishing and meaningful ways. Through a series of gentle invitations by an ANFT Certified guide, you’ll have the chance to deepen your relationship with the land and its inhabitants, as well as share in that experience with others.
In addition to feeling more grounded, calm, and peaceful, when practiced regularly, Forest Bathing has been shown to support overall well-being, including reduced stress, lower blood pressure, improved sleep, enhanced creativity and focus, and even a decrease in anxiety and depression. Many people also find that they begin to experience familiar parks and forests in new, surprising, and deeply personal ways.
