When people ask how I like living in Oak Park, the Park District of Oak Park is always included in my answer because you are that integral to our family's happiness here. You fill so many gaps of childcare, personal wellness, and happiness that many communities do not have.

In the years since I started learning to skate at the Park District of Oak Park, I have fallen in love with a sport that I had never paid attention to before in my life. I started following competitive figure skating to learn more about the sport, changed jobs to spend more time at the rink, and have been working to get in better shape so I can be a better skater. I'm very glad I decided to sign up for lessons, and am very grateful to the coaches who have helped me improve over the years!

My most meaningful experience was buying a pool pass last summer. I was under so much stress, both personally and professionally and I hadn't been to the pool in years, and it was a refreshing, fun way to enjoy the summer. I could walk there from my home and it just encouraged me to do other Park District events.

My 12-year-old had a truly memorable experience at the sold-out teen pool night. It’s tough to find events for that age group that are both safe and genuinely exciting, but this pool night nailed it. The obstacle course was a huge hit, and my child came home buzzing with excitement. As parents, it was incredibly reassuring to know they were in a supervised and secure environment. We really appreciated having a program designed specifically for teens, offering them a fantastic experience within the community.

It was amazing to learn such a unique skill with a great instructor and a group of other Oak Parkers. The community that is built just attending these weekly stained glass classes is wonderful!

The number of summer camps available for Oak Park residents and their children is nothing short of phenomenal. And the counselors for the summer camps are kind, friendly, and most importantly, really tuned in to each child's individual personality and needs.

I've met some really great friends through Nia classes. I've been practicing Nia for probably over 10 years. I also use the yoga and some of the other exercise/dance programs on occasion. I look forward to both the exercise and camaraderie with the friends I've made, and we meet outside of the Park District for parties, coffee, book clubs, etc.

I love the parks and the department that maintains them! My friends and I frequently stop by a park to catch up and spend time together. It's so lovely to have access to a clean, safe, beautiful public space! Thank you for your work. The parks are a part of my connection to my community that I cherish!
